Nomination Papers

2025 Municipal Elections

Nomination papers for the 2025 municipal elections will be available on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The last day to pull papers is Friday, July 25, 2025, at 5 PM. Completed papers must be returned to the City Clerk's Office no later than Tuesday, July 29, 2025 for certification.

A preliminary election will be held (if needed) on September 16, 2025 and a general election will be held on November 4, 2025.

Signature Requirements

Mayor, City Council At-Large, School Committee, Methuen Housing, Library Trustee, and Greater Lawrence Tech candidates must collect 150 certified signatures:

• 50 from the East District
• 50 from the West District
• 50 from the Central District

District Council candidates must collect 50 certified signatures from registered voters within their respective district.

Offices on the 2025 Ballot

• Mayor
• City Council – At Large (3 seats)
• City Council – District Seats(2 per district)
  • East: Precincts 3, 7, 9, 12, 13, 13A
  • Central: Precincts 1, 2, 6, 6A, 10, 14
  • West: Precincts 4, 5, 8, 11, 15
• School Committee – At Large (6 seats)
• Methuen Housing Authority – At Large (2 seats)
• Greater Lawrence Technical School Committee – At Large (2 seats)
• Nevins Library Trustee – At Large (2 seats)

All offices listed above serve a two-year term.
