The Northeast Massachusetts Mosquito Control and Wetlands Management District is conducting an application to control adult mosquitoes in Methuen, MA, in the evening between the hours of 8pm until Midnight or completion on Monday, August 26th, 2024.

In case of inclement weather, the Backup date of application would be Tuesday, August 27th, 2024. The areas to be treated are Raymond Martin Riverside Park, Francis Morse Park, Marsh Grammar School, Gill Ave Park, Tenney Grammar School, Nicholson Stadium, Timony Grammar School, Methuen High School, Comprehensive Grammar School, Veterans Park, Ashford Park, Sargent Field, Shorty Degaspe Park, and the Neil Playground.

"I'd like to thank NEMMC for preemptively spraying Methuen schools and public parks," said Mayor Neil Perry. "This treatment to public areas will help to prevent West Nile and other mosquito carried disease from spreading to Methuen."

The vehicle is a mid-sized white pickup truck, marked with the NEMMC seal and will be driving slowly through the above designated areas with yellow lights activated. Residents and pets should remain indoors while the vehicle is operating in these designated areas. Air conditioners may remain ON. Please close doors and windows on the street side; they can be reopened within half an hour after truck passes. Recommendations are specific to truck based ULV applications.
